January 3rd, 2018. One of the happiest days of my life.

On January 3rd, 2018 I had an appointment for an ultrasound. I took my coworker Shannon with me, she had never been to an ultrasound before. It was an amazing day because I found out that I was having my first baby girl. I was on cloud 9. I have two awesome boys but always dreamed of having a little girl I could make clothes for and fix her hair. I have no full blood siblings so having a little girl that may look like me, be my mini has always been a dream of mine. I do not really look like anyone of either side of my family. I have always wanted to make girl clothes, wear matching clothes with my daughter, give her my grandmothers names as a middle name. Its just one of those things I have looked forward to since I was a teen.

I had an ultrasound a few weeks before I found out I was having a girl. They did an ultrasound on my armpit area because of a lump. I have had lumps in my armpits before, and they never caused any concern because they usually would show up during my pregnancy or while I was breast feeding. When I showed my midwife Shayla I said they usually go away after a few weeks but this one was going on a few months. She said let’s check it out just to be on the safe side. During the first ultrasound the radiologist noticed an area that was a little abnormal and said he was going to order a biopsy to be on the safe side. I told my family I was doing an ultrasound but just to be safe. No one, including me thought anything of it. It was just to be on the safe side, check it out, even if it is nothing, especially since I was 21 weeks pregnant.

When I picked up my son Sinte (Luta) from Boys Club, he came running out "is it a boy or girl mom, boy or girl?" I said, "what did you want more than anything?" He said " A BABY SISTER!!"
